Many Indian families still expect a physical card for the most senior relatives — grandparents and elders often treat a printed invitation as a mark of respect that a link doesn't quite replace. A hybrid approach works well for large guest lists: physical cards for close elder relatives, and a digital link for the broader list, which at Indian weddings frequently runs into the hundreds.

India doesn't have a strong RSVP culture the way some other countries do — guests historically either show up or simply don't respond, without much in between. That means an invitation needs to explicitly ask for a response and make it genuinely low-friction, ideally a single tap, rather than assuming a phone call will follow. It's also worth planning for a compressed timeline — since the wedding date itself is often finalised only once a priest calculates the muhurat, invitations frequently go out with far less lead time than couples initially expect.

With guest lists this large, sending one giant broadcast rarely works as well as sharing through the smaller WhatsApp groups that already exist — bride's side, groom's side, college friends, colleagues — staggered so no one group finds out significantly later than another.
