Is Bengali Wedding right for your wedding?

Bengali Wedding is built around the literary sensibility Bengali culture is known for — the pullquote story layout and the calligraphic heading style are meant for couples who want to open their invitation with a line of poetry, a favourite Tagore verse, or their own words about how they met, rather than jumping straight into ceremony logistics. It suits a wedding where the family plans to include an Ashirbad (a blessing ceremony) or Aiburo Bhaat (the bride's last unmarried meal with her family) alongside the more commonly listed events — both are easy to add as custom event cards even though they're not in the default list.

The sindoor-red and ivory palette is a deliberate nod to sindoor itself and to the red-and-white shakha-pola bangles worn during the ceremony, so it photographs consistently with the actual wedding-day colour story rather than clashing with it. Many Bengali weddings also include a Gaye Holud (the turmeric ritual, similar in spirit to Haldi) and a Bou Bhaat reception hosted by the groom's family a day or two after the wedding — renaming the default Haldi and Reception events to these terms takes a minute in the editor and makes the invitation feel specific to your family rather than generic.

Bengali Wedding is on the Free plan, and the lotus-bloom opening animation is worth keeping even if you customise everything else, since it's one of the more widely recognised Bengali cultural symbols among Wowzey's templates.

    Frequently asked questions

What are the typical events in a Bengali Hindu wedding that we should list on the invitation?+

Beyond the pre-wedding Gaye Holud (turmeric) and the main wedding ceremony, many families also invite guests to Ashirbad (a blessing ceremony), Bor Jatri (the groom's procession), and Bou Bhaat (the reception hosted by the groom's family, usually a day or two after the wedding). Not every family includes all of these, so list only the ones you're actually holding rather than a generic full set.

Should the invitation be in Bengali, English, or both?+

Bilingual invitations are very common, especially when the guest list includes both Bengali-speaking relatives and colleagues or friends from elsewhere. A short Bengali greeting line at the top with the rest of the details in English is a widely used and comfortable format.

Is Bengali Wedding a free template?+

Yes, it's on Wowzey's Free plan, so you can publish it without any payment. You can still add custom sections or rename events without needing to upgrade.

Can we rename the default Haldi and Reception events to Bengali-specific names like Gaye Holud and Bou Bhaat?+

Yes — every event name on the invitation is editable text, so renaming Haldi to Gaye Holud or Reception to Bou Bhaat takes a moment in the editor and makes the invitation read correctly for your family's actual ceremony names.
