Is Maharashtrian Wedding right for your wedding?

Maharashtrian Wedding is designed around the Vedic, ceremony-focused structure of a Marathi wedding rather than the multi-day celebration format some other regional templates lean into — the tone is calmer and more formal, suited to a wedding centred on ritual precision: Seemantapoojan (welcoming the groom), Antarpat (the cloth separating bride and groom before Mangalashtak verses are read), and Saptapadi (the seven steps) rather than a big Sangeet-led celebration. If your wedding follows this more traditional structure, the restrained gold-on-green palette suits a temple or Vedic-hall venue better than a banquet-hall reception look would.

Many Marathi families also hold a Sakharpuda (an engagement ceremony where sugar or sweets are exchanged) well before the wedding itself, along with a Haldi and a Karha Puja — none of these beyond Haldi are in the default event list, so it's worth adding Sakharpuda as a separate event if you're sending a save-the-date-style invitation ahead of the main card. The gold tone throughout is a deliberate nod to Ganpati, invoked at the start of most Marathi ceremonies including the wedding itself.

Maharashtrian Wedding is on the Free plan. The understated body text was chosen specifically so ceremony timings — which matter more in a Marathi wedding, where the Antarpat and Saptapadi happen at a specific auspicious muhurat — read clearly rather than getting lost in decoration.

    Frequently asked questions

What ceremonies should be listed for a traditional Marathi wedding invitation?+

Beyond Haldi, many families list Seemantapoojan (welcoming the groom's party), the main wedding ceremony (including Antarpat and Saptapadi), and the reception; some also invite guests to a separate Sakharpuda engagement ceremony held weeks or months earlier. Since timing precision matters in a Vedic ceremony, always confirm the muhurat time with your priest before finalising the invitation.

Why does the exact ceremony time matter more for a Marathi wedding than some other styles?+

The Antarpat and Saptapadi are traditionally timed to a specific auspicious muhurat determined by a priest based on the couple's horoscopes, so the invitation's stated time is often more precise, down to the minute, than a general 'evening ceremony' window. It's worth listing the muhurat time clearly rather than rounding it to the nearest hour.

    Is Maharashtrian Wedding free?+

Yes, it's on Wowzey's Free plan, so there's no cost to create and publish it. You can still rename or add ceremony events without upgrading.

Can we add a Sakharpuda event even though it's not in the default ceremony list?+

Yes, you can add any custom event card with its own name, date, time, and venue, so a Sakharpuda engagement ceremony can sit alongside Haldi and the wedding day exactly as your family is actually celebrating it.
